Our Story — From Aviation AI to Mental Wellness

Our Story

Mental wellness cannot be built on forgetting

How an aviation technologist who managed systems for 200 million passengers discovered that the biggest system failure was in how we care for each other.

"I spent 20 years building systems where forgetting gets people killed. Then I watched my daughter try three wellness apps. Every one of them asked 'What brings you here today?' as if the previous conversations never happened. She stopped using all of them. Not because the technology was bad — because it did not remember her."

Author, "Becoming Human: Embracing Imperfection and Finding Purpose"

The Origin

Aviation taught us that forgetting is failure.

In aviation, forgetting kills people. Every bolt, every inspection, every maintenance cycle — the system must remember it all, with perfect continuity, forever. Dinakara spent twenty years building that kind of AI for commercial aviation. Systems that Delta, American Airlines, and Embraer trusted with the safety of millions of passengers.

After EmpowerMX was acquired by IFS in 2024, he stopped. He stopped and asked the question that had been building for years: what actually matters? Not what makes money. Not what scales. What actually matters to a human being who is trying to hold it all together.

That question became a book — "Becoming Human: Embracing Imperfection and Finding Purpose." A confession about the loneliness that success brings, about ambition and exhaustion living in the same body, about the slow, honest work of learning to be whole. And from that book came Menthra.

The Insight

The mental health industry treats amnesia as a feature.

Dinakara watched his daughter try three wellness apps. Each one greeted her the same way: "What brings you here today?" As if nothing before had ever happened. As if she was a stranger to her own support system. She stopped using all of them — not because the technology was bad, but because it did not remember her.

The insight went deeper than memory: mental health fails because of an information problem. A therapist gets 50 minutes a week. A patient can never fully convey their situation. So therapy becomes management — you talk about it, you cope with it, you learn to live with it. But what if the system had complete information? What if it could see every trigger, every pattern, every cycle — the way an aviation maintenance system sees every bolt and every inspection? Then mental health stops being something you manage and starts being something you resolve.

Menthra was built on the same principle that EmpowerMX was built on — complete information enables resolution. In aviation, that means tracking every bolt. In mental health, it means tracking every emotional signal, every trigger, every pattern, every cycle. Your story is not data to be processed. It is the raw material for understanding what is actually wrong — and fixing it.

Memory is not a feature. It is infrastructure.

The Journey

From aviation to mental wellness.

2004–2024

Aviation AI

Dinakara Nagalla spends two decades building AI-powered maintenance systems for commercial aviation — managing predictive maintenance for 200M+ passenger operations at American Airlines, Delta, Embraer. Nothing is ever forgotten. The system must remember every bolt, every inspection, every cycle.

2024

EmpowerMX Acquired

IFS acquires EmpowerMX — the AI aviation maintenance platform Dinakara built from scratch. Validation of the thesis that AI built around memory and context outperforms everything else.

2024

A Personal Observation

Dinakara watches his daughter try three different wellness apps. Each one greets her with "What brings you here today?" as if previous conversations never happened. She stops using all of them — not because the tech was bad, because it did not remember her.

The first wellness platform built with memory as infrastructure — not a feature. AI companions that build a continuous relationship. A single ecosystem where AI, coaching, and therapy share the same story. Your story never resets.

About the Book

"Becoming Human"
Embracing Imperfection and Finding Purpose

This is not a self-help book. It is what happens when someone who spent two decades building systems that never fail finally sits down and writes honestly about what it means to be human — which is to fail, repeatedly, and to find something worth holding onto in the wreckage.

"Becoming Human" explores the contradictions most people carry quietly: ambition and exhaustion living in the same body. The loneliness that arrives after success. The gap between who you perform as and who you actually are. The ways we sabotage ourselves without noticing. And the slow, sometimes painful, always honest process of learning to be whole.

If Menthra is the technology, "Becoming Human" is the philosophy behind it.
